Overview:
Domestic violence is at endemic proportions nationally and there is no indication that the numbers are falling. Children who are raised in homes where there is domestic violence are at risk of perpetrating or becoming victims of violence later, in their own adult relationships. Yet many people who have grown up with Domestic violence reject violence and abuse in their own adult partnerships. The proposed study gains new knowledge from the lived experiences of young people who have experienced domestic violence as children to inform policy and practice in health, welfare and education to support children.
